Elandsbaai, Western Cape, South Africa

Elandsbaai is only 220km from Cape Town and is a favourite coastal town known for its seafood as well as its natural wonders such as Verlorenvlei (a marsh) which lies between Elandsbaai and Redeling-huys.

Visitors to Elandsbaai can book into one of the guesthouses, accommodation cottages, bed and breakfasts or hotels at Elandsbaai. You can also take in the stunning sunsets while enjoying delicious seafood before exploring this picturesque town.

This small West Coast fishing town is well known among Cape Town surfers who regularly head up that way on wave pilgrimages. But there is more. The area is rich in rock art and the bird life on the nearby Verlorenvlei is fantastic. In spring, the flowers are typically outrageous with many bulbs growing in the sandy dune areas.

In the Bobbejaan Mountains above Elandsbaai, there are numerous Bushman paintings. The breathtaking waves that break here, is a must for every surfer.

Elandsbaai is not a well developed tourist area and is only reached by dirt road but it's a worthwhile stop for the more adventurous traveller. One of the major attractions here is the rather rough and ready but very atmospheric beach restaurant Muisbosskerm

Elandsbaai is the perfect place to unwind in peaceful surroundings and an endless beach. It is also a great place to enjoy activities like rowing, sailing, surfing, crayfishing (when in season), bird watching, Whale watching and fishing to name a few. For adventure enthusiasts there are mountain biking, rock climbing, parasailing or exciting 4X4 routes to be enjoyed.
