The Overberg has a number of nature reserves and rivers to explore or you could set off on a day trip and head for the seaside. Berry picking, wining, dining and art gallery visits are typical Swellendam holiday activities.
History buffs will not pass up the opportunity to visit the Drostdy Museum which is one of the finest in the country. The museum was originally a residence built in 1847 and has beautiful grounds to wander around. Many renowned artists live in the vicinity of Swellendam and so you will be able to view their stunning works in a number of art galleries.
For day trips, there are plenty of options available to you. Nature lovers can visit Marloth Nature Reserve, Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve and Bontebok National Park, or head for the ocean and De Hoop Nature Reserve. For an action adventure there is Shark-Cage Diving at Gansbaai.
